Removing Side Member Reinforcement

  1. Remove A-pillar reinforcement. → 513855 REPLACING A-PILLAR REINFORCEMENT 
  2. Remove B-pillar reinforcement. → 514255 REPLACING B-PILLAR REINFORCEMENT 

    Information 

    The insulating mat will be damaged irreparably during removal and must be replaced.

  3. Heat up insulating mat with a hot-air gun and remove it.

  4. Grind down MIG seams -arrows-  .

  5. Grind down MIG seams -B-  .

    Information 

    Drill out spotwelds A  through two plate thicknesses.

  6. Drill out spotwelds using spotweld drill Nr.129  .
  7. Heat up sealing elements with a hot-air gun and remove them.

    Information 

    Drill out spotwelds A  through two plate thicknesses.

  8. Drill out spotwelds using spotweld drill Nr.129  .

    Information 

    Drill out spotwelds A  through two plate thicknesses.

  9. Drill out spotwelds using spotweld drill Nr.129  .

  10. Grind down MIG seam -B-  .
  11. Mark and make the required cut. → Distance: 30 mm

  12. Grind down MIG seams.

  13. Heat up connection areas using a hot-air gun.

  14. Remove side member reinforcement and inner panel and (outer) rear wheel housing section.
