Installing Spoiler Drive

  1. Pull wire harness for the spoiler drive through the relevant opening in the lid.
  2. Fit spoiler drive -arrow-  .

  3. Centre the spoiler drive in the recess.
  4. Tighten fastening nuts -7-  for the spoiler drive to the specified tightening torque Tightening torque 9 Nm  until secure.
  5. Tighten fastening screws -6-  for the spoiler drive to the specified tightening torque Tightening torque 9 Nm  until secure.

  6. Secure wire harness.
    1. 6.1. Press in retaining clip -4-  for wire harness.
    2. 6.2. Clip in and tighten new cable strap -5-  for wire harness.
    3. 6.3. Connect plug connection -3-  until it engages securely.

  7. Remove adhesive tape.


  1. Adjust spoiler drive.

    Information 

    Use a cordless screwdriver with torque control and set it to the lowest torque setting.

    1. 1.1. Extend spoiler drive -1-  fully. To do this, turn the spindle -2-  clockwise -arrow-  using a cordless screwdriver until the rubber buffer -3-  is at the limit stop.
    2. 1.2. The slit in the spindle -2-  must be vertical at this position.
    3. 1.3. To ensure that both spoiler drives are synchronised, the setting of the other spoiler drive must also be examined and adjusted if necessary.

  2. Position spoiler drive -1-  in installation position -arrow A-  and insert threaded bolts -2-  (-arrows B-  ).

  3. Tighten fastening nuts -2-  on the spoiler drive -1-  hand-tight.

  4. Install lower part of rear spoiler.
    1. 4.1. Place lower part of rear spoiler -3-  in installation position -arrow A-  .
    2. 4.2. Align lower part of rear spoiler -3-  with the markings with respect to the spoiler drive -4-  on both sides.

      Information 

      • Never make alterations to the micro-self-locking screws, which have a negative effect on the bonding (e.g. using lubricant, loosening bolts and screwing them down again). 
      • Replace micro-self-locking screws. 
    3. 4.3. Tighten fastening screws -1-  and retaining brackets on lower part of rear spoiler -3-  to the specified tightening torque Tightening torque 4.5 Nm (3 ftlb.) +/-0.5 Nm (+/-0.5 ftlb.)  until secure -arrow B-  .

  5. Adjust spoiler drive.
    1. 5.1. Fit the spoiler drive -1-  as shown on the camshaft guide 9678 -2-  .
    2. 5.2. Adjust spoiler drive -1-  to the dimension -A- Adjustment value 556 mm  .
    3. 5.3. Align spoiler drive -1-  so that it is parallel to the engine housing.

  6. Tighten fastening nuts -2-  on the spoiler drive -1-  to the specified tightening torque Tightening torque 1 Nm (0.5 ftlb.)  until secure.

  7. Install closing element of rear spoiler.
    1. 7.1. Place closing element of rear spoiler -2-  in installation position -arrow A-  .
    2. 7.2. Align closing element of rear spoiler -2-  with the markings with respect to the spoiler drive -3-  on both sides.

      Information

    3. 7.3. Tighten fastening screws -1-  on closing element of rear spoiler -2-  to the specified tightening torque Tightening torque 4.5 Nm (3 ftlb.) +/-0.5 Nm (+/-0.5 ftlb.)  until secure -arrows B-  .

  8. Install rear cover.
    1. 8.1. Fit rear cover -1-  on the right spoiler drive -arrow A-  until the clip engages securely.
    2. 8.2. Position rear cover -1-  on the left spoiler drive and secure with the expanding clip -2-  by pressing in the pin -arrow B-  .

  9. Secure wire harness for rear spoiler at the left spoiler drive.
    1. 9.1. Clip in rear spoiler wire harness -3-  at the spoiler drive -arrow A-  .
    2. 9.2. Position microswitch for rear spoiler -2-  on the spoiler drive -arrow B-  and tighten fastening screw to the specified tightening torque Tightening torque 1 Nm (0.5 ftlb.) -1-  until secure.
