Installing Coolant Pump

Information 

The tightening specifications for the basic engine are stored centrally.

Tightening torques and assembly instructions for other assemblies (e.g. chassis, electrics, transmission or body) or for peripheral engine equipment can be found in the corresponding documents.

Information 

• The water pump for the V6 can be confused with the water pump for V8 engines. 
• The water pump for the V6 must not be installed in V8 engines. Heat damage! 
• Do not store the V6 water pump together with V8 water pumps. 
• The water pump for the V6 has a colour marking with the inscription V6 on the housing. 
• Mark a V6 water pump clearly with a pen if the V6 inscription is missing. 

1. Clean sealing faces. Fit coolant pump with new seal.

2. Tighten fastening screws.

   NOTIFICATION 

   Incorrect handling of pulley 

   • Risk of damage to pulley 

     → The pulley is sensitive to impact. Do not prise off the pulley with a screwdriver.

     → Do not re-use a damaged pulley.

3. Fit the pulley on the coolant pump. Screw in the three fastening screws by hand.
4. Tighten the three fastening screws on the coolant pump pulley. Block the pulley with a > Nr.38 - brace  if necessary.
