Removing And Installing Actuating Cylinder For Rear Lid

CAUTION: Incorrect handling of actuating cylinders
  • Actuating cylinders can burst
  • Risk of eye injuries
  • Risk of bruising

→ The actuating cylinders must be in idle state in order to remove them.

→ Open the lid.

→ Secure the lid after removing the actuating cylinders to prevent it from closing accidentally.

→ Do not use force when opening the actuating cylinders due to the high internal pressure.

Information 

  1. Open the rear lid.
  2. Release and disconnect electric plug connections -1-  .
    1. 2.1. Cut tie-wrap -2-  .

  3. Pull rubber sleeve out of the rear lid.
  4. Guide out electric line.
  5. A second person should hold the rear lid to prevent it from closing accidentally.
  6. Insert a screwdriver between the actuating cylinder -2-  and safety clip -1-  .
  7. Lift up the safety clip by levering the screwdriver -A-  . The safety clip remains on the actuating cylinder.
  8. Pull actuating cylinder off the ball joint -B-  .
