Assembling Rear Lid

  1. Install electronic components (depending on equipment).
    1. 1.1. Install antenna control unit. → INSTALLING CONTROL UNIT FOR AUXILIARY HEATER
    2. 1.2. Install antenna amplifier. → INSTALLING ANTENNA AMPLIFIER
    3. 1.3. Install control unit for auxiliary heater. → INSTALLING CONTROL UNIT FOR AUXILIARY HEATER
    4. 1.4. Install antenna for auxiliary heater. → INSTALLING ANTENNA FOR AUXILIARY HEATER
  2. Install rear lid seals (on lid side). → Installing Rear Lid Seal 559419 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR LID SEAL 
  3. Install mounting for rubber stop -7-  .

    1. 3.1. Insert mountings for rubber stop into the rear lid.
    2. 3.2. Secure mountings for rubber stop by turning them 90°.
  4. Press guides for wire harness/caps -5-  into the relevant openings in the panel.
  5. Tighten ball joint -6-  to the specified tightening torque Tightening torque 46 Nm  until secure.

  6. Install insulation for rear lid.
    1. 6.1. Press molded pieces -4-  into the openings in the panel until the edges all around the molded pieces are touching the rear lid.

    2. 6.2. Align and affix section of insulation -4-  .

      Information 

      • Immediately before sticking on, wash off the areas on which you intend to stick the seal using isopropanol to ensure that all traces of silicone, grease and oil are completely removed. 
  7. Attach adhesive film -3-  .

    1. 7.1. Clean bonding surfaces with silicone remover.
    2. 7.2. Pull protective paper off the adhesive film.
    3. 7.3. Align and press on adhesive film.
    4. 7.4. Pull off protective layer of adhesive film.
    5. 7.5. Check the affixed film for bubbles and defects.
  8. Install water drains for spoiler module -2-  .

    1. 8.1. Press water drain into the relevant opening in the panel.
    2. 8.2. Check that the water drain is engaged at the water drain tray on the spoiler module.
  9. Install adjusting element.
    1. 9.1. Place adjusting element in installation position -A-  .
    2. 9.2. Guide adjusting clip -B-  in as far as it will go.
    3. 9.3. Screw in fastening screws -1-  .
