Teaching Control Unit For Height Adjustment

NOTE: NOTIFICATION 
Voltage drop 
  • Risk of irreparable damage to control unit 
  • Risk of damage to control unit 
  • Fault entries in the control unit 
  • Coding in the control unit is aborted 
  • Malfunctions in control unit, even during programming 
    1. Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
    2. Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.
    3. Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least 90 A to the vehicle battery.

Information 

The PIWIS Tester  instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear on the PIWIS Tester  .

  1. Switch off ignition and replace control unit.

    >483019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CONTROL UNIT FOR HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT 

  2. Connect the Porsche System Tester to the vehicle and start the System Tester. Switch on ignition.
  3. Select the vehicle type and start the diagnostic application.
  4. Select Front-end electronics  control unit in the overview. 
  5. Extended identifications  must now be selected.
  6. Check the VIN  and correct it if necessary.
  7. Maintenance/repairs  must then be selected.
  8. Select Steering column adjustment normalizing run  and press F12 to continue.
  9. Read and follow the warnings displayed on the Tester.
  10. Start the Steering column adjustment normalizing run  by pressing F8.
  11. When all end stops have been set, the Tester displays the message: Procedure has been completed successfully  . Press F12 to continue.
  12. Return to the overview  and select the Front-end electronics  control unit.
  13. Read out the fault memory and erase it if necessary.
  14. Perform a function test.
