Removing Tie Rod

Information

1. For easier removal of the outer tie rod joint, swivel the relevant wheel bearing housing so that the tie rod is fully extended. Remove the outer tie rod joints using > T10187 - ball joint puller  (> Loosening tie-rod ball (shown as an example)  ). When pressing out, screw lock nut on flush (protects the ball joint thread).

2. Right tie rod: 

   Remove fastening screws -1-  on the heat shield -2-  near the joint boot -3-  of the right tie rod.

3. Pull out heat shield -2-  .
4. Remove small clamp -arrow-  on joint boot using > VAS 6890 - Spring Band Clamp Pliers.

5. Cut open and remove large clamp -arrow-  on joint boot using side cutters.

6. Carefully pull the joint boot > Loosening joint boot (shown as an example)  outwards until the axial joint is accessible.

7. Remove axial joint -arrow-  from the steering rack using > Nr.95-2 - open-jawed wrench insert a/f 38  for torque wrench and remove the complete tie rod.
