Removing Brake Shoes

Information 

There is no  need to grind down the parking-brake shoes if the parking-brake shoes are not replaced.

Set the brake shoes to the basic setting if necessary and calibrate the brakes

> 468316 ADJUSTING AND CALIBRATING PARKING-BRAKE SHOES 

• Mark the parking-brake shoes and adjustment device according to their installation position.
• Secure the adjustment device to prevent it from turning.

1. Loosen adjustment device -2-  with a screwdriver. > Adjustment device

   WARNING: Preloaded or pressurized components 

   • Risk of injury (e.g. crushing or bruising) when removing and installing springs. 
     1. Do not reach into the danger area.
     2. Relieve the tension on components before starting work.
     3. Secure components to prevent them from loosening suddenly.
     4. Wear protective gloves and goggles.
     5. Be very careful when working on the brake system.
2. Remove compression springs -3-  . > Compression springs

3. Disengage both tension springs -4-  . > Tension springs

4. Remove brake shoes with adjustment device -1 and 2-  .
5. Secure actuator for parking brake with a tie-wrap -arrow-  .
