Installing Rear Anti-Roll Bar (PDCC)

WARNING: Caustic fluids 
  • Danger of chemical burns 
    1. Wear personal protective gear.
    2. Ensure that there is good ventilation.
    3. Avoid contact with caustic fluid.
    4. If you do come into contact, wash off immediately with plenty of warm water and contact a doctor if necessary.
  1. Fit the anti-roll-bar mount halves at the correct position on the anti-roll bar > Anti-roll-bar mount halves (shown as an example)  . At the correct position means the larger outer diameter is on the wheel side.

  2. Engage the anti-roll-bar mount halves at the mounting points provided for this purpose -arrow-  .

  3. Check the installation position -arrow-  of the anti-roll-bar mount halves with respect to the anti-roll bar. Copy the dimensions of the marking -arrow-  on the old roll-over bar when installing a new roll-over bar.

    Dimension X - lower edge of wing to centre of axle (shown as an example)

    • All screws and bolts on the axle must be tightened in vehicle position. Vehicle position means: vehicle standing on its wheels, or the wheel suspension is raised with a universal vehicle lift. Dimension -X- , from lower edge of wing to centre of axle corresponds to vehicle position. For the current height values, please refer to the adjustment values for suspension alignment 

      > WM, 4495TW ADJUSTMENT VALUES FOR SUSPENSION ALIGNMENT .

    • Visually inspect all parts. 
    • Replace self-locking nuts. 
    • Replace all expansion screws (screws fitted using torque angle tightening procedure). 
    • Use correct tightening torques and torque angle.

  4. Fit the anti-roll bar and insert the four fastening screws evenly in vehicle position and tighten hand-tight.
  5. Fit the fastening nuts for the anti-roll bar at the connecting links and tighten hand-tight.
  6. Clip the two lines for the rear valve block into the brackets.

  7. Fit the union nuts -9-  on the two lines at the rear valve block using an open-ended wrench.

  8. Position the cover on the rear valve block.
  9. Tighten the two fastening screws -8-  on the valve block cover to > Tightening torque 9 (6.5 ftlb.) Nm  .

  10. Tighten the fastening screws and fastening nuts for the anti-roll bar and connecting links to the specified tightening torques

    > WM, 4X00IN TIGHTENING TORQUES FOR REAR AXLE .

  11. Following assembly, check carefully once again that the steel flexi-pipes are not twisted! The toothed rings -arrows-  must be positioned on the steel flexi-pipes in such a way that they provide adequate protection in the event of contact with adjacent components.
