Disassembling Drive Shaft: Disassembly

Risk of squashing or crushing
1. Secure components to prevent them from falling down.

The joint on the transmission side and the joint on the wheel side of the rear axle can be replaced. The entire drive shaft must be replaced if the profile shaft is defective.

Inner joint (transmission side)

Remove the circlip (on transmission side) using > Nr.68 - circlip pliers.
Information

Before removing the bellows, mark the position of the bellows on the drive shaft with a coloured pen (see also >>Assembling drive shaft, Step 4.1<<).
Remove the bellows from the inner joint and slide it back.

Removing bellows
Clamp the drive shaft (use aluminium protective jaws). Position an aluminium mandrel on the ball hub (star-shaped inner ring) -arrow- and remove the joint pin (inner joint) by hitting it several times with a hammer - see illustration- .

Remove the hose clamps and bellows and take them off the profile shaft.

Removing bellows
Clamp the drive shaft (use aluminium protective jaws). Position an aluminium mandrel on the ball hub (star-shaped inner ring) -arrow- and remove the joint (outer joint) by hitting it several times with a hammer - see illustration- .
