Removing Drive Plate For Torque Converter

  1. Mark installation position of the drive plate with respect to the crankshaft using a felt-tip pen.

    Information 

    The threaded bore in the crankcase is a blind hole.

    Drive plate toothed segment

    • Secure the toothed segment -1- on the crankcase using a screw -2- (M12 x 50). 
    • This screw ensures that the toothed segment is secured correctly and prevents damage to the thread. 
  2. Fit > 9538/1 - toothed segment (> Toothed segment on oil guide housing  ).

  3. Block drive plate.
    1. 3.1 To do this, position > 9538/1 - toothed segment on the bottom threaded bore so that at least one tooth engages. > Toothed segment

  4. Remove drive plate. Loosen screws in diagonally opposite sequence. >
    1. 4.1 Replace screws.
  5. Remove drive plate.
  6. If the drive plate is tight, loosen it using an internal puller and > VW771 - multi-purpose tool.
    1. 6.1 Insert internal puller into the centre of the drive plate and tighten it. > Internal puller

  7. Screw on striking tool and pull off the drive plate. > Striker
