Supporting The Engine On The Body

Information 

• Never use defective lifting equipment (bent or damaged tools must not be used or repaired. Always replace these tools). Check tools for signs of damage before use. 

Information 

• The engine must be supported on the body for some repair work on the front axle and engine bearings. 

Information 

• When assembling the suspending device, make sure that adjacent components are not scratched or damaged.

Engine support assembly

1. Assemble the head of the > T40091/50-51 - support with the > T40091/52-53 - Support.
2. > T40091/52-53 - Support (-1-  ) must then be fitted on the top fastening points of the spring struts.
   1. 2.1 The mountings -2-  must be seated exactly on the fastening nuts -3-  .
   2. 2.2 Ensure that the supports are seated correctly on the spring-strut threaded joints.

3. Attach the front support in the engine compartment.
   1. 3.1 > T40093/51 - adjustable foot must now be connected to the > T40093/3P - Support.
   2. 3.2 Fit the front support -1-  on the longitudinal member seam at the right.

4. Support the engine on the body.
   1. 4.1 > T40091/3 - Joiner (-5-  ) can now be pushed onto the > 10-222A - Catching fixture (-1-  ).
   2. 4.2 Connect the front support -4-  to the > 10-222A - Catching fixture and support on the left spring strut mount -3-  .
   3. 4.3 Fit the > T40091/1 - Pipe (-4-  ) into the > T40091/3 - Joiner and the support on the right spring strut mount -3-  .
5. Secure the > 3033 - Lifting tackle (-6-  ) to the > 10-222A - Catching fixture.
6. Engage the two fastening eyelets -2-  on the > 3033 - Lifting tackle at the fastening eyelets -1-  on the engine.
   1. 6.1 Adjust the suspension at the spindles and set it as horizontal as possible.
   2. 6.2 Tension the engine slightly and make sure that the force is distributed uniformly over both spindles.
   3. 6.3 Do not load the spindles at the side and position them until they are as vertical as possible. Assemble as shown in the illustrations.
   4. 6.4 Make sure that the suspension is not pressing back against the plenum panel.
