Engine type: 

NOTE: The sport exhaust system is activated and deactivated using the strip for switches with the additional "Twin tailpipe" button. The sport exhaust system is also activated by pressing the "Sport" button. The sport exhaust system can be switched off separately in the specified modes using the "Twin tailpipe" button.
Engine power and exhaust behavior of the vehicle are not affected. The sport exhaust system is also available as a factory installed option for new vehicles by requesting optional equipment "0P8/0P9".
The DME control unit must be re-programmed on vehicles with an older software version. Please see Step 6.4.

  1. Preparatory work.
    1. 1.1  Remove wiper arms.

    2. 1.2  Remove rear profile seal for front lid.

    3. 1.3  Unclip moulding from the left of the windshield.

    4. 1.4  Remove cowl panel.

    5. 1.5  Remove wiper linkage with wiper motor.

  2. Install new rear muffler.

  3. Install electric wire harness.

    1. 3.1  Disconnect the battery.

      > 202519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CARBON CANISTER

    2. 3.2  Route electric wire harness for the control unit for exhaust flap control at the right.
      1. 3.2.1  Remove carbon canister.
      2. 3.2.2  Disconnect plug connection on ground line for carbon canister -1-  .

        Unclip ground line for carbon canister -3-  from corrugated hose holder -2-  .

        Press grommet inwards and guide ground line for carbon canister into the passenger compartment -arrow-  .

      3. 3.2.3  Cut off standard grommet -1-  .

        Guide ground line for carbon canister -2-  through the grommet -3-  from the electric wire harness (retrofit kit).

        Wrap insulating tape around the grommet -4-  .

        Seal grommet with butyl -5-  .

      4. 3.2.4  Secure cable ring eyelet -arrow-  to ground pin 46.

        > Tightening torque 9 (6.5 ftlb.) Nm

      5. 3.2.5  Guide ground line for carbon canister through the body and fit grommet.

        Connect ground line for carbon canister -1-  .

        Clip ground line for carbon canister -3-  into corrugated hose holder -2-  .

      6. 3.2.6  Connect plug connection on control unit for exhaust flap control -arrow-  .

      Secure electric wire harness -1-  using corrugated hose holder (N. 906.968.01) -2-  .

    3. 3.3  Route electric wire harness > Figure 11  along wire harness in luggage compartment at the left and secure with a tie-wrap.

    4. 3.4  Route electric wire harness to control unit for exhaust flap control at the left.
      1. 3.4.1  Remove lines from connector for exhaust flap control.

        Open flexible hose holder -1-  .

        Open secondary lock -2-  (-arrow a-).

        Carefully press down locking mechanisms -3-  on the socket contacts and pull out the lines -arrow b-  .

      2. 3.4.2  Remove grommet from electric wire harness (retrofit kit).
      3. 3.4.3  Pull grommet -1-  out of the body.

        Remove insulating tape and sealing material and push grommet back if necessary.

      4. 3.4.4  Guide the electric wire harness (retrofit kit) -1-  through the grommet -2-  using an auxiliary line or grommet expanding pliers.

        Information 

        Ensure socket contact is seated securely.

      5. 3.4.5  Insert socket contacts -3-  into the connector -arrow b-  .

        Close secondary lock -2-  (-arrow A-  ).

        Fit flexible hose holder -1-  .

      6. 3.4.6  Wrap insulating tape around the grommet -arrows-  . Fit grommet into the body.

      7. 3.4.7  Connect plug connection on control unit for exhaust flap control.

      Secure electric wire harness -2-  to the standard wire harness with tie-wraps -1-  .

    5. 3.5  Route electric wire harness in the rear left wheel housing area.
      1. 3.5.1  Vehicles with four-zone air conditioning:

        Secure electric wire harness with adhesive pads -2-  , tie-wrap -1-  and combination holder (N 106.435.01) -3-  .

      2. 3.5.2  Vehicles without four-zone air conditioning:

        Secure electric wire harness with adhesive pads -1-  , corrugated hose holder (N 906.986.01) and a fixing clip (4F2.721.663) -3-  in the door sill area.

    6. 3.6 Route electric wire harness -1-  in the left door sill area and secure with adhesive pads -2-  and corrugated hose holder (N 906.986.01) -3-  .

      1. 3.7.1  Vehicles with auxiliary heater/four-zone air conditioning:

        Secure electric wire harness -1-  with two fixing clips (3D0.971.497.D) -2-  (-arrow-  ).

        Pull main wire harness for engine compartment out of the bracket on the relay box -A-  .

      3. 3.8.3  Release and disconnect electric plug connections -50- for the vehicle/engine connection point in the relay box.

        Remove grommet -2-  in an upward direction.

      4. 3.8.4  Unscrew screws -1-  and lift up upper part of relay carrier -arrow-  .

    9. 3.9  Route electric wire harness in relay box.

      1. 3.9.1  Remove insulating tape -1-  from grommet.
      2. 3.9.2  Use an auxiliary line -2-  to guide the electric wire harness through the grommet -3-  into the relay box.
      3. 3.9.3  Wrap insulating tape around the grommet.
    10. 3.10  Connect electric wire harness.
      1. 3.10.1  Guide electric wire harness -1-  through upper part of relay carrier -arrow-  .

      5. 3.10.5  Close secondary lock on blue plug socket and red pin connector socket.
  4. Installation is performed in reverse order.
  5. Install new selector switch.
    1. 5.1  Remove levelling system (selector switch).

      > 431019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING LEVELLING SYSTEM (SELECTOR SWITCH)

    2. 5.2  Convert levelling system (selector switch).
      1. 5.2.1  Release locking lug -2-  at the front -arrow a-. Lift trim -1-  slightly.

        Insert a small screwdriver into the housing on both sides -b-  . Press down (release) the clips -3- carefully  and pull up the trim.

      2. 5.2.2  Release combined switch -1-  (-a-  ) and pull it out of the keypad -2-  .

      3. 5.2.3  Insert combined switch into the new keypad and press it down until the combined switch locks with an audible click.
      4. 5.2.4  Position trim on the levelling system (selector switch) and press it down until the trim locks with an audible click.
    3. 5.3  Install levelling system (selector switch).

      > 431019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING LEVELLING SYSTEM (SELECTOR SWITCH)

    NOTE: Voltage drop 
    • Risk of irreparable damage to control unit 
    • Risk of damage to control unit 
    • Fault entries in the control unit 
    • Coding in the control unit is aborted 
    • Malfunctions in control unit, even during programming 

      → Switch off the ignition and remove the ignition key before disconnecting the control unit.

      → Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.

      → Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least > Nominal value 90 A to the vehicle battery.

    Information 

    The > P90999 - PIWIS Tester 4 instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

    The procedure described here has been structured in general terms; different text or additions may appear on the > P90999 - PIWIS Tester 4.

  6. Code sports exhaust system.
    1. 6.1  Connect a battery charger.

      > 2X00IN BATTERY TRICKLE CHARGING

    2. 6.2  > 9900 - PIWIS Tester III must now be connected and the ignition switched on.
    3. 6.3  Select the required vehicle type. PIWIS Tester III Diagnostics starts.
    4. 6.4 Select DME control unit.  Press F11 to confirm the question "Create vehicle analysis log (VAL)"?.

      Switch to the Extended identifications  menu.

      Check  that the following software version (program and data status) is installed:

      Cayenne Turbo (2nd gen. 92A V8 Turbo) W10C  xxxxxxxxxxx or higher, e.g. W10D...

      Cayenne S (2nd gen. 92A V6 Turbo) W09C  xxxxxxxxxxx or higher, e.g. W09D...

      Yes:  Switch to the Overview  menu. Continue with Step 6.5.

      No:  Program the DME control unit with the new software.

      Switch to the Programming menu and follow the instructions on > 9900 - PIWIS Tester III. When programming is complete, continue with Step 6.5.

    5. 6.5  Maintenance of vehicle data.
      1. 6.5.1 Additional menu  must now be selected by pressing F7
      2. 6.5.2  Select the Maintenance of vehicle data  function. Press F12 until PR numbers  appears in the Value group column.
      3. 6.5.3  Select Exhaust tailpipe  in the Family column.

        Open the sub-menu in the Value column and select 0P8 - Sport exhaust system or 0P9 - Sport exhaust system, black tailpipe.  Press F12 to continue.

      4. 6.5.4  The selected values appear. Press F8 to write values. Wait until the message Generation of vehicle data is complete..... to continue.  appears.
      5. 6.5.5 Press F12 to switch to Report management. Press F10 to open the log and check that the vehicle equipment 0P8 - Sport exhaust system or 0P9 - Sport exhaust system, black tailpipe  is entered. Close the log.

        Press F11 to switch to the control unit overview.

    6. 6.6 Adapt coding.
      1. 6.6.1 Select all control units by pressing .

        Switch to the Codings/adaptations  menu.

      2. 6.6.2 Automatic coding  must now be selected. Press F12to continue.
      3. 6.6.3 Wait until the following message appears: Coding was completed successfully.  Press F12to continue.

        Switch to the Overview  menu.

    7. 6.7 Read out the fault memories of all systems, work through any existing faults and erase the fault memories.

      > WM 0335IN DIAGNOSTIC MAINTENANCE: RESETTING DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM AND MAINTENANCE INTERVAL

    8. 6.8 Switch off ignition and disconnect > 9900 - PIWIS Tester III.
    9. 6.9 Disconnect the battery charger.

      > 2X00IN BATTERY TRICKLE CHARGING
