Changing Hydraulic Fluid

Information 

The > 9818 - PIWIS Tester II instructions take precedence and in the event of a discrepancy these are the instructions that must be followed. Deviations may occur with later software versions.

When changing the hydraulic fluid, the clutch system does not have to be bled using PIWIS Tester II. However, the air/leak test must be carried out and clutch adaptation must be performed using PIWIS Tester II.

  1. > VAS 6860 - Brake Filling and Bleeding Equipment must be connected.
  2. The bleeder valve is located between the engine and drive motor at the bottom left.
  3. Pull the dust boot -1-  off the bleeder valve and attach the breather hose.

  4. > VAS 6860 - Brake Filling and Bleeding Equipment must be switched on.
  5. Open the bleeder valve. Drain a change quantity of 0.25 liters into the collection container.
  6. Then close the bleeder valve.
  7. > VAS 6860 - Brake Filling and Bleeding Equipment must now be switched off.
  8. Carry out air/leak test.

    > 9818 - PIWIS Tester II must be switched on.

    1. 8.1 DIAGNOSTICS must be selected.
    2. 8.2 Select vehicle model.
    3. 8.3 DME must now be selected. Then select MAINTENANCE/REPAIRS and press F12 to confirm.
    4. 8.4 You now have the option of creating a Vehicle Analysis Log ("VAL").
    5. 8.5 CLUTCH ACTUATOR AND DECOUPLER must now be selected. Then press F12 to confirm.
    6. 8.6 Read instructions relating to HV batteries!
    7. 8.7 Check hydraulic system for air/leaks must now be selected. Then press F12 to confirm.
  9. Perform clutch adaptation.

    > 9818 - PIWIS Tester II must be connected and switched on until it is ready for operation.

    1. 9.1 DIAGNOSTICS must be selected.
    2. 9.2 Select vehicle model.
    3. 9.3 DME must now be selected. Then select MAINTENANCE/REPAIRS and press F12 to confirm.
    4. 9.4 You now have the option of creating a Vehicle Analysis Log ("VAL").
    5. 9.5 CLUTCH ACTUATOR AND DECOUPLER must now be selected. Then press F12 to confirm.
    6. 9.6 Read instructions relating to HV batteries!
    7. 9.7 Clutch adaptation must be selected. Then press F12 to confirm.
  10. Adjust fill level in the reservoir to the MAX marking.
