Installing Rear Tie Rod (Toe Control Arm)

Dimension 1 - centre of wheel to lower edge of wing (rear axle shown)

Information 

• All screws and threaded joints on the axle must be tightened in vehicle position. Vehicle position means: vehicle standing on its wheels or the wheel suspension is raised with a universal vehicle lift. Measurement -1-  from the lower edge of the wing to the middle of the vehicle axle corresponds to vehicle position. The current height values can be found in

  > 4495TW ADJUSTMENT VALUES FOR SUSPENSION ALIGNMENT

  Always observe the following points! 

• On vehicles with air springs, the respective air spring must be bled using the Porsche System Tester. 

  > WM, 4301IN BLEEDING AND FILLING THE LEVELLING SYSTEM

• Screws and nuts are Geomet-coated and must not be greased. 

1. Installation is performed in reverse order.

   Observe specified tightening torques:

   Tie rod to wheel bearing housing: > Initial tightening 150 Nm (110.6 ftlb.)  -- > Final tightening + 90° --

   Tie rod to chassis subframe: > Tightening torque 170 Nm (125.4 ftlb.)  --

   To make removal easier, raise the wheel carrier slightly using a universal jack! > Lifting wheel bearing housing (example)  Use a rubber base to prevent the wheel carrier from slipping!
