Installing Rear Axle
- Danger of limbs being trapped or severed
→ Do not reach into the danger area.
→ Secure the system to prevent it from being activated accidentally.
→ Keep third parties away from the danger area.
- Installation is performed in reverse order.
Observe specified tightening torques:
Rear axle to body, front: > Initial tightening 120 (89 ftlb.) Nm -- > Final tightening + 180 ° --
Rear axle to body, rear: > Initial tightening 120 (89 ftlb.) Nm -- > Final tightening + 180 ° --
Centre bearing (cardan shaft) to body (initial tightening): > Initial tightening 20 (15 ftlb.) Nm -- > Final tightening + 90 ° --
Rear spring strut to wheel bearing housing: > Initial tightening 90 Nm (66.4 ftlb.) -- > Final tightening + 90 ° --
- Position rear axle housing back in its original, marked installation position and tighten it.
Marking (example)
- Replace circlip -arrow-
at the input flange of the rear final drive.

- Position the cardan shaft at the marking on the rear final drive.

- For vehicles with PDCC (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control - anti-roll stabilisation):
On vehicles with PDCC, the lines (pressure line, return line) at the PDCC valve block must be fitted from rear axle to front axle.
Pressure lines to PDCC valve block: > Tightening torque 28 Nm (20.7 ftlb.) --
