Removing Front Wheel Bearing

Remove fastening screws -1- used to secure the wheel bearing to the wheel carrier.

Fastening screws securing wheel bearing to wheel bearing housing
Using > VAS 6926 - Puller set , push (press in) the pin of the drive shaft into the wheel hub by max. approx. 10 mm + 5 mm. Check drive shaft clearance on the halfshaft flange while doing this.
Press the wheel hub -1 and wheel bearing by continuing to turn -A- the spindle -2- until they are pressed out of the wheel bearing housing -3- (-B- ).

Press the wheel hub -2- out of the wheel bearing -1- .

Pressing off wheel hub
1. 4.1 Fit press-off tool > VAS 6178 - Hydraulic cylinder , -3- , as well as > VAS 6179/1 - Pressure Gauge with Connection Line , -5- and suitable >T10205 - attachments , -4- over the wheel hub on the wheel bearing.
2. 4.2 Connect to > VAS 6179 - Foot Pump .
3. 4.3 Apply compressed air and press the wheel hub off the wheel bearing.
Fit wheel hub using > Nr.111 - separating device , -3- , > T10230 - Assembly tool , -2- and > VAS 6178 -Hydraulic cylinder , -1- , as well as y VAS 6179/1 - Pressure Gauge with Connection Line .

Pressing bearing shell off the wheel hub
Apply compressed air to the tool and press the bearing shell -5- off the wheel hub -4- .
