Installing Front Wheel Bearing Housing

Dimension 1 - centre of wheel to lower edge of wing (rear axle shown)

• All screws and threaded joints on the axle must be tightened in vehicle position. Vehicle position means: vehicle standing on its wheels or the wheel suspension is raised with a universal vehicle lift. Measurement -1- from the lower edge of the wing to the middle of the vehicle axle corresponds to vehicle position. The current height values can be found in

  . Always observe the following points! 

• On vehicles with air springs, the respective air spring must be bled using the Porsche System Tester. 

  > WM, 4301IN BLEEDING AND FILLING THE LEVELLING SYSTEM

• Screws and nuts are Geomet-coated and must not be greased.

1. Counter with a > 9546 - screwdriver when tightening the ball joints if necessary.

   Fitting tool T10206 (shown as an example)

   • Pull in the drive shaft as far as it will go using the > T10206 -fitting tool  .
2. Grease the splines with a little Optimoly TA aluminum paste and slide the drive shaft into the wheel bearing housing.

   Pull the drive shaft into the wheel bearing housing as far as it will go.

3. Grease the bearing head on the new axle nut with a little Optimoly TA aluminum paste. Fit the axle nut.
4. Install the ball joint of the lower trailing arm on the wheel bearing housing (this requires help from another person).

   >401719 REMOVING AND INSTALLING LOWER TRAILING ARM 

   > Tightening torque 130 (96 ftlb.) Nm --

5. Fit tie rod on wheel bearing housing.

   > 487919 REMOVING AND INSTALLING TIE ROD

   > Tightening torque 90 (67 ftlb.) Nm --

6. Fit ball joint of the trailing arm to the top of the wheel bearing housing.

   >401519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING UPPER TRAILING ARM 

   > Tightening torque 85 (63 ftlb.) Nm --

7. Fit brake disc.

   > 465019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT BRAKE DISC

   > 465119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT BRAKE DISC PCCB

   > Tightening torque 15 (11 ftlb.) Nm --

8. Fit brake calliper.

   > 473919 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT BRAKE CALLIPER

   > 473919 REMOVING AND INSTALLING THE FRONT BRAKE CALLIPER (PCCB)

   18-inch brake calliper: > Tightening torque 140 (104 ftlb.) Nm  --

   19-inch and PCCB brake calliper: > Tightening torque 140 (104 ftlb.) Nm  --

9. Fit the holders -1, 2-  for the hydraulic lines on the wheel bearing housing -3-  .

   > Tightening torque 9 (6.5 ftlb.) Nm --

10. Plug in cable plug -1-  for the speed sensor on the wheel bearing housing -A_-  and lock it -a-  .
