Naturally, some steps also have to be performed on the opposite side of the vehicle as well.

Only for vehicles with PDCC:
1. 1.1 Loosen distributor -1- for the hydraulic lines.
2. 1.2 Unscrew fastening screws -2- but leave the distributor hanging.

3.1 Press the selector lever cable -3- off the ball joint -1- using > VAS 6933 - Disassembly tool .

3.2 Unscrew fastening screws -2- on the selector lever cable holder.

5.1 Unclip ATF lines -A- .

Place a container underneath to catch emerging ATF.

6.1 Loosen fastening screw -1- for the ATF lines -2- on the automatic transmission.
6.2 Disconnect ATF lines.
6.3 Close off lines and bores on the automatic transmission using suitable stoppers.

6.4 Replace O-rings on the lines.

Lower the automatic transmission at the rear.

7.1 Support automatic transmission with > VAS 6931 - Transmission and Engine Jack .

7.2 Lower the automatic transmission -1- as far as required with the jack -2- until the fastening screws for the ATF lines at the ATF heat exchanger can be loosened.

Lowering automatic transmission

Disconnect ATF lines on the heat exchanger.

8.1 Place a container underneath to collect emerging hydraulic fluid!
8.2 Unscrew fastening screws -1- for the ATF lines -2- at the heat exchanger -3- .

8.3 Close off ATF lines and bores in the heat exchanger using suitable stoppers.

Unscrew fastening screws -1- on the heat exchanger -2- .

9.1 Secure the heat exchanger and coolant lines in the tunnel using tie-wraps.

Release cable plug -1- at the control valve -2- for thermal management -a- and disconnect it -A- .

Unscrew fastening screws -1- on the holders -2- for the coolant lines.

11.1 Pull coolant lines to the rear and secure with a tie-wrap to make it easier to reach the assembly opening for the torque converter.

Release electric plug connection -1- for the crankshaft pulse sender at the left of the automatic transmission -a- and disconnect it -A- .

12.1 Loosen the cable clip on the coolant line holder on the left if necessary.

Information
- Get one or more people to help when installing/removing heavy or difficult-to-reach components.
- This will prevent or reduce the risk of possible damage.
Information
- When loosening or tightening the converter screws, the help of another person is required in order to turn the engine.
- Check the position of the converter screws using a mirror.
- The converter screws must be replaced.
Unscrew fastening screws for the torque converter. To do this, perform the following steps.
> 325019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING TORQUE CONVERTER
Get a helper to turn the crankshaft clockwise using > 9714 - Socket wrench insert -arrow- and torque wrench -1-

> 9595 - Locating pin must now be inserted into the front bore on the transmission bell housing -right arrow- .
Then hold it upwards with slight pressure until it engages when the crankshaft is turned.

Use a mirror -2- to check that the screw on the drive plate is fitted correctly with respect to the assembly opening -1- .

17.1 Correct the position if necessary by turning the crankshaft.

> 9688 - Bit insert must be fitted on the fastening screw through the opening in the engine block -arrow- .

18.1 > 9687 - Insert part -1- must now be fitted on the bit insert.

> 9595 - Locating pin must then be pulled out before loosening the fastening screws.
Loosen and unscrew fastening screw.
1. 20.1 Connect torque wrench without ratchet head to insert part 9687 and loosen fastening screw.
2. 20.2 Unscrew fastening screw by hand after loosening it with the magnetic bit insert.
Remove the other fastening screws in the same way as described in the steps above.
Information
- When removing and installing the transmission, make sure that the torque converter does not slip out of the transmission.
- Secure the torque converter through the bore on the underside of the transmission with a > 9595 - locating pin.

Secure the automatic transmission -1- on the transmission jack -2- with a tension strap -3- to prevent it from falling down.

- Get one or more people to help when installing/removing heavy or difficult-to-reach components.
- This will prevent or reduce the risk of possible damage.
Information
- When removing and installing the transmission, make sure that the torque converter does not slip out of the transmission.
- Secure the torque converter through the bore on the underside of the transmission with a > 9595 - locating pin.
Remove automatic transmission with the help of another person
1. 26.1 Loosen automatic transmission from the engine.
2. 26.2 Carefully pull the automatic transmission to the rear and lower it slowly using the jack.
3. 26.3 Make sure that no wire is kinked or torn off when removing it.
4. 26.4 Make more space for removal by tilting or twisting the automatic transmission if necessary.
