Subsequent Work

  1. Install oil pressure indicator sensor with adapter.

    > Refer to the appropriate service information

  2. Install the chain tensioner.

    > 153619 REMOVE AND INSTALL CHAIN TENSIONER 

  3. Install new joint flange with crankshaft sealing ring.

    > Refer to the appropriate service information

  4. Dismantle the staking tool on the camshafts of both cylinder banks.
  5. Fit and secure belt pulley with friction washer.

    > Refer to the appropriate service information.

  6. Check the timing V6 Biturbo  .

    TDC position of camshafts

    1. 6.1 Turn the engine two turns clockwise to TDC of cylinder 1  and lock the belt pulley using > 9595/1 - locating pins.
    2. 6.2 Check the position of the camshafts -Arrows-  , the surfaces for the camshaft adjustment must be horizontal.
      1. 6.2.1 If the control chain is still in the same position as it was during removal, remove > 9595/1 - locating pins and continue with Step  9.
      2. 6.2.2 Only set the timing if the control chain has skipped. 

        > WM, 150516 TIMING FOR CAMSHAFTS 

  7. Check the timing V8  .

    TDC position of camshafts

    1. 7.1 Turn the engine two turns clockwise to TDC of cylinder 1  and lock the belt pulley using > 9595/1 - locating pins.
    2. 7.2 Check camshaft adjustment.
      1. 7.2.1 If the control chain is still in the same position as it was during removal, remove > 9595/1 - locating pins and continue with Step  7.
      2. 7.2.2 Only set the timing if the control chain has skipped. 

        > WM, 150516 TIMING FOR CAMSHAFTS 

  8. Install alternator.

    > 272219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING THE GENERATOR

  9. Install turbocharger suction and pressure hose on cylinder bank 1.
  10. Install both cylinder head covers.

    > 158219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CYLINDER HEAD COVER 

  11. Install coolant pump belt pulley.
  12. Install the drive belt.

    > 137819 REMOVE AND INSTALL DRIVE BELT

  13. Fasten the coolant pump belt pulley.

    > Tightening torque 23 (17 ftlb.) Nm

  14. Install the hat for the throttle body complete with both molded hoses.

    > WM, 243519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING THE THROTTLE-HOUSING COVER

    > Refer to the appropriate service information

  15. Assemble the lock support panel and bumper complete with all radiators.

    1. 15.1 Attach the complete cooler package with a helper.
    2. 15.2 Tighten screw securing -1-  ATF lines -3-  to thermostat -4-  .

    3. 15.3 Fasten the refrigerant line screws to the condenser.

      Use new O-rings.

    4. 15.4 Secure hydraulic lines to the power-steering radiator in the left longitudinal member area.

      1. 15.4.1 Push on -2-  hoses and fasten clamps -1-  .
    5. 15.5 Secure electric plug connections.
      1. 15.5.1 Secure the electric plug connection -6-  of the cable harness on the left-hand side.

    7. 15.7 Secure decoupler for flap cable to the upper left longitudinal member.

      Removing cable from mounting

    8. 15.8 Tighten screws -5-  for the longitudinal member.

      Detaching bumper

    9. 15.9 Tighten screws -4-  for the bumper.

      Loosening lock support panel

  16. Install the front bumper.

    > WM 631519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT APRON (EXCEPT CAYENNE, CAYENNE GTS, CAYENNE TURBO S, CAYENNE S, CAYENNE S E-HYBRID, CAYENNE TURBO, CAYENNE S DIESEL, CAYENNE (3.0))

  17. Install both air cleaner housings.

    > 242519 REMOVE AND INSTALL AIR CLEANER HOUSING

  18. Add refrigerant.

    > WM 870317 DRAINING AND FILLING REFRIGERANT (CAYENNE, CAYENNE GTS, CAYENNE TURBO S, CAYENNE S, CAYENNE S E-HYBRID, CAYENNE TURBO, CAYENNE S DIESEL, CAYENNE (3.0))

  19. Top up coolant.

    > 193817 DRAINING AND FILLING COOLANT

  20. Filling engine oil.

    > 170117 DRAINING AND FILLING ENGINE OIL

  21. Fill in hydraulic fluid.

    > 480201 CHECKING HYDRAULIC FLUID (FLUID LEVEL)

    > 430501 CHECKING FLUID LEVEL (PDCC)

  22. Connect the battery.

    > WM 978509 LOOSENING AND SECURING GROUND STRAP FOR BATTERY
