Removing Hydraulic Pump
CAUTION:
- Damage can result from Pentosin getting into the surrounding area (e.g. onto the coolant hoses) when the hydraulic hoses are loosened (opened).
→ Avoid all contact with Pentosin.
→ Collect emerging Pentosin in a suitable container.
→ Wear protective goggles when carrying out overhead work on lines with Pentosin!
→ Wear protective gloves!
→ If coolant hoses come into contact with Pentosin, clean them thoroughly with water IMMEDIATELY.
→ Replace visibly swollen coolant hoses!
Information
- The reservoir must always be replaced if individual or multiple components, such as the hydraulic pump (tandem hydraulic pump), steering, PDCC valve blocks (FA/RA), PDCC anti-roll bars (FA/RA), are replaced.
- The steering system must be flushed after replacing individual or multiple components. Additional components must be replaced. → 489729 FLUSHING THE STEERING SYSTEM .
- Remove left charge air line between the charge-air cooler and air box for the throttle valve. → Removing charge air line on the left
- Disconnect positive crankcase ventilation line -3- on the left, next to the throttle valve, underneath the engine cover (design cover).
- Unclip water hose from the bracket and turn it away.
- Drain Pentosin from the power-steering reservoir using suction. Only draw out fluid using a syringe that is used exclusively for Pentosin.
- Remove hydraulic pump pulley.
- 5.1. Loosen fastening screws -1- on the hydraulic pump pulley (do not unscrew fully).
- 5.2. Remove drive belt. → 137819 REMOVING AND REINSTALLING DRIVE BELT
- 5.3. Unscrew fastening screws and remove the pulley.
- Remove the lower left pressure hose. → Removing lower pressure hose
- Remove the lower charge air line (in the left wheel housing) together with the positive crankcase ventilation hose. To do this, pull the complete vent line in the assembly through in a downward direction. → Removing charge air line at the bottom left

- Disconnect the air-conditioning compressor and secure it to prevent it from falling down.
→ 873419 REMOVING AND REINSTALLING AIR-CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR
- Loosen the support for the hydraulic line on the compressor.
- Remove the pressure and intake lines for the hydraulic pump. Screw off the fastening nuts -5- and remove the holder -6- . (System runs until empty; use a suitable collection pan)
- Unscrew the fastening screws -2- at the front of the hydraulic pump.
- Unscrew the fastening screw -3- at the side of the hydraulic pump.
- Carefully remove the hydraulic pump to the side by turning it.
