Removing Sealing Ring For Crankshaft (On Transmission Side)

  1. Radial shaft seal (use protection cap for radial shaft seal for fitting; only fit when crankcase is screwed on)
  2. Crankcase
  3. Crankshaft
  4. Radial shaft seal (sectional view)
  1. Use the drift punch, 1-mm tip Nr.167  to beat a small hole at a non-rubberized spot (rectangular window in the ring) on the sealing ring. → Drift punch

  2. Screw in the extractor tip. Use the slide hammer kit Nr.168  to knock out the extractor tip together with the sealing ring. Alternatively, you can screw in a suitable tapping screw and pull out the sealing ring using a pliers. → Punching out sealing ring

  3. Clean the crankshaft flange. The crankshaft flange must not be dirty or rusty. If necessary, clean it with brake cleaner and sand off any rust with a metal-polishing pad (e.g. Never Dull). → Cleaning crankshaft flange
