Removing Rear Side Member

  1. Remove rear closing panel. → 530555 replacing rear closing panel 
  2. Remove center side member. → 514855 replacing center side member
  3. Remove (inner) rear wheel housing. → 536855 replacing (inner) rear wheel housing 
  4. Remove remaining piece of (outer) rear wheel housing.
    1. 4.1. Drill out spotwelds using Spotweld drill   .
    2. 4.2. Remove remaining piece of (outer) rear wheel housing.

  5. Remove welded joints on luggage compartment floor cross member.

    Information 

    Only make cuts in the top plate. Make sure not to damage the plate underneath when doing this.

    1. 5.1. Make a cut -b-  on the right side of the luggage compartment floor cross member.

      Information 

      Only use the Twist drill nr.201  (diameter: 6.6 mm) as rivets will be set in this area during installation.

      Information 

      Drill out spotwelds A  through three plate thicknesses.

    2. 5.2. Drill out spotwelds -a-  on the rear side member using Twist drill nr.201  (diameter: 6.6 mm).
    3. 5.3. Drill out spotwelds on the rear side member using Spotweld drill   .

    Information 

    Drill out spotwelds A  through two plate thicknesses.

  6. Drill out spotwelds on the rear side member using Spotweld drill   .

    Information 

    Only use the Twist drill nr.201  (diameter: 6.6 mm) as rivets will be set in this area during installation.

  7. Drill out spotwelds on the rear side member using a Twist drill nr.201  (diameter: 6.6 mm).

  8. Mill off spotwelds on the rear side member using a Spherical cutter  .

  9. Grind down mig seams on rear side member.

  10. Heat up connection areas using a hot-air gun.

  11. Remove rear side member together with luggage compartment floor cross member.
  12. Remove remaining piece of luggage compartment floor cross member on the right side.
    1. 12.1. Mill off spotwelds on the inside using a Spherical cutter  .
    2. 12.2. Remove remaining piece of luggage compartment floor cross member.
