Removing Timing Chain

If the timing chain has to be removed or replaced, check the guide and tensioning rails as well as the chain pinions for wear and scoring and replace them if necessary.

  1. Loosen the fastening screws on the camshaft timing gears and camshaft controllers (by one or two turns). To do this, counter at the hexagon on the camshaft controller and camshaft timing gear using a ring wrench. > Camshaft timing gears and camshaft controllers

  2. Remove timing chain from all sprockets by pulling it forwards.
