Preliminary Work

Information 

The following repair instructions are only relevant for disassembling the engine.

  1. Removing engine.

    >WM, 100119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING ENGINE .

  2. Remove transmission from engine and suspend engine on the assembly support

    > 1001IN SECURING ENGINE ON ASSEMBLY SUPPORT (MOUNTING BRACKET)

  3. Drain engine oil. For details, see > 170117 DRAINING AND FILLING ENGINE OIL (CHANGING ENGINE OIL)
  4. Remove drive belt. For details, see > 137819 REMOVING AND INSTALLING DRIVE BELT
  5. Remove coolant hoses in front of the chain housing cover. Don't forget the holder. > Coolant return line on turbo engine, for example

    Coolant return line on turbo engine, for example

    Connection piece on alternator
    Connection piece screw
    Screw, M6 x 20
    Coolant return line
    Coolant return hose assembly
    Bracket
    M6 screw Aluminium screw  ; Always use new aluminium screws
    Clip
  6. Remove both cylinder head covers.

    >WM, 158219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CYLINDER HEAD COVER .

  7. Remove vibration damper.

    > WM, 137619 REMOVING AND INSTALLING VIBRATION DAMPER (CRANKSHAFT PULLEY)

  8. Remove joint flange behind the vibration damper and do not re-installed old flange.

    > WM, 137419 REMOVING AND INSTALLING SEALING RING FOR CRANKSHAFT PULLEY

  9. Remove oil pan and oil guide housing.

    > WM, 175019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OIL PAN .
