Removing Cooling Fan Housing (Radiator Frame)

WARNING: Electrically moved components 
  • Danger of limbs being trapped or severed 

    → Switch off electric power to drive motor.

    → Make sure it does not switch on again.

    → Check that there is no electric charge.

  1. Unclip electric lines from the brackets.
  2. Remove pressure pipe at the right -1-  .

    1. 2.1 Release vent hose -2-  from the pressure pipe at the right -1-  and disconnect it.

    2. 2.2 Unscrew two fastening screws -3-  on the pressure pipe at the right for the charge-air cooler.

    3. 2.3 Unclip circlip -4-  from the holder for the pressure pipe at the right -5-  using a suitable tool.

    4. 2.4 Pull pressure pipe at the right out of the bracket -5-  .
    5. 2.5 Pull pressure pipe at the right out of the charge-air cooler and remove it in an upward direction.
  3. Release and disconnect electric plug connection -6-  for fan on the cooling fan housing -a-  .

  4. Remove holder for pressure pipe at the left.
    1. 4.1 Unclip circlip -4-  from the holder -5-  using a suitable tool.

    2. 4.2 Unscrew fastening screw -7-  on the holder -5-  at the cooling fan housing.

    3. 4.3 Remove holder -5-  .
  5. Release and disconnect electric plug connection -8-  at the cooling water hose.

  6. Release locking springs -9-  at the left and right of the cooling fan housing.

  7. Carefully press cooling water hose -10-  to one side.

  8. Pull cooling fan housing out of the brackets at the side and at the bottom and swivel it to the right slightly -arrow A-  .

  9. Carefully remove the cooling fan housing by pulling it up -arrow B-  .
