Converting Dowel Sleeves

Information 

As of a certain engine number, longer dowel sleeves are installed in the crankcase and cannot  be fitted on the old transmission.

The long dowel sleeves must be replaced with short dowel sleeves when installing new engines on the old transmission.

1. Convert dowel sleeves -arrows-  on the crankcase
2. Pull long 16.5-mm  dowel sleeves out of the crankcase by turning them back and forth using a vice-grip wrench or water pump pliers.
3. Carefully tap short 15-mm  dowel sleeves into the crankcase using a plastic hammer.
