Removing Coolant Regulator Cover

CAUTION: Hot components

→ Let hot components cool down.

→ Let the fluid cool down.

→ Wear personal protective gear.

Information 

Specifications for wrench sizes (a/f specifications) for screw heads are described as follows:

Information 

  1. Unscrew top external Torx screw (E10, M6 x 50) -1-  on the cover from inside the passenger compartment. Leave the screw in the cover and remove it and the cover later.
    1. 1.1. Insert for torque wrench 9792  can be used for this.

  2. Pull off coolant hose -2-  .
    1. 2.1. Pull off spring clamp on the Henn coupling on the coolant hose.
    2. 2.2. Pull off the coolant hose and refit the spring clamp immediately.
    3. 2.3. Collect emerging coolant in a clean container.
    4. 2.4. Check O-ring on Henn coupling and replace it if necessary.

  3. Disconnect coolant pipe.
    1. 3.1. Unscrew external Torx screws (E10, M6 x 12) -3-  on the coolant regulator housing and crankcase.
  4. Unscrew two external Torx screws (E10, M6 x 50) -1-  on the underbody and remove the coolant regulator cover by pulling it downwards.
    1. 4.1. Collect emerging coolant in a clean container.

  5. Remove old profile seal and clean sealing faces.
