Fault code 59: Diagnosis/troubleshooting

DIAGNOSIS/TROUBLESHOOTING (FAULT CODE 59)

Work instruction Display OK If not OK
1 Check fuse C3.
  • Pull off and check fuse C3.
Fuse C3 OK.
Step 2
Replace fuse C3.

2 Check wire from ground point 7 to the alarm system control module for open circuit.
  • Switch off the ignition.
  • Pull plugs A and Boff the alarm system control module.
  • Measure resistance between plug B on alarm system control module pin 1 and ground.

Repair wiring harness.

3 Check wiring from the alarm system control module to the servomotors for short circuit to ground.
  • Pull plugs off both door locks.
  • Measure resistance between plug B on alarm system control module pin 9 and ground.
Step 4 Repair wiring harness.

4 Check wiring from the alarm system control module to the servomotors for open circuit.
  • Measure resistance between plug B on alarm system control module pin 9 and pin 2 on plug of door lock (driver's side/passenger's side).

Repair wiring harness.

5 Check wiring from the alarm system control module to the servomotors for short circuit to ground.
  • Measure resistance between plug A on alarm system control module pin 19 and ground.
Step 6 Repair wiring harness.

6 Check wiring from the alarm system control module to the servomotors for open circuit.
  • Measure resistance between plug A on alarm system control module pin 19 and pin 9 on plug of door lock (driver's side/passenger's side).

Repair wiring harness.

7 Check wiring from the alarm system control module to the door locks for short circuit to ground.
  • Measure resistance between plug A on alarm system control module pin 5 and ground.
  • Measure resistance between plug A on alarm system control module pin 28 and ground.
Step 8 Repair wiring harness.

8 Check wiring from the alarm system control module to the door locks for open circuit.
  • Measure resistance between plug A on alarm system control module pin 5 and pin 7 on plug of door lock on driver's side.
  • Measure resistance between plug A on alarm system control module pin 28 and pin 7 on plug of door lock on passenger's side.

Step 9
Repair wiring harness.

9 Check output signals of the control module.
  • Connect 88-pin test adapter cable 9616 and 42-pin test adapter cable 9617 to the alarm system control module.
  • Reconnect plugs to both door locks.
  • Switch on ignition.
  • Select Secure doors in the "Drive links" menu item.
  • Carry out a drive link test and simultaneously measure the voltage on the 88-pin test adapter cable 9616, pin 19 and ground.
A voltage pulse can be measured with the digital multimeter.

  • Replace door lock.
