Warning Tone
If the battery is discharged below a defined residual capacity, this is indicated by a repeated warning tone issued by the lightweight battery. The warning tone can be heard both close to the vehicle and when the battery is removed.
The warning is issued in two stages.
WARNING STAGES
| - | Warning stage 1 | Warning stage 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Occurrence | With a residual capacity of approx. 20% | Residual capacity falls below a value of approx. 5% |
| Acoustic signal | 3 beeps at intervals of approx. 15 seconds | 2 beeps at intervals of approx. 5 seconds with faster tone sequence |
| Remedial action | Battery should be charged | Battery must be charged immediately to prevent lasting damage as a result of exhaustive discharge |
Information
If the battery is damaged as a result of becoming exhaustively discharged, this will be indicated by a light-emitting diode (LED) which is attached inside the battery on the battery management system and is visible through the transparent housing underneath the battery grip.
- Do not continue to use or re-charge a damaged lithium-ion battery!
- Always observe disposal regulations for batteries!
LIGHT SIGNAL DESCRIPTION
| Light signal | LED starts to flash | LED lights up and stays on | LED does not light up |
| Battery charge state | Battery is fully charged. The LED lights up in order to check the function of the LED | This indicates that at least one battery cell is damaged | Battery is completely flat (exhaustively discharged) |
| Charging | Battery is fully charged. It does not need to be charged | Do not continue to use or re-charge a damaged lithium-ion battery! Always observe disposal regulations for batteries! |
If the battery is connected to a charger after being exhaustively discharged, the LED lights up and stays on as a result of the voltage increase. However, this indicates that at least one battery cell is damaged. Stop charging the battery! Observe disposal regulations for batteries! |
