Removing Double Sealing Ring

Information 

• Replace circlips on the halfshaft flanges. 
• Carefully slide in the long halfshaft flange, keeping it straight at all times. 

1. Remove the short halfshaft flange on the transmission cover using the Puller T10037 -1-  .
   1. 1.1. Secure the puller using two screws (M10 x 1).
      CAUTION: fine thread!
   2. 1.2. Replace the circlip.

2. Drive out the long halfshaft flange -2-  using a plastic hammer.
   1. 2.1. Replace the circlip.

3. Pull off the centering pin -1-  on the housing cover using an M6 screw -2-  and Slide Hammer Kit Nr. 168 -3-  .

   Information 

   • The aluminum screws for the differential housing cover must be replaced. 
   • The aluminum screws for the Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) must be tightened using the yield -point- controlled tightening method. 
   • Special tool Electronic Torque Wrench 9768 is used for this. 
   • To ensure that the screws are tightened uniformly, the corresponding tightening setting "light, medium or hard" must always be used. 
4. Unscrew 13 aluminum screws (M8 x 25) -2-  on the differential housing cover -1-  .
   1. 4.1. Remove housing cover.
   2. 4.2. Replace aluminum screws.

5. Lift the differential -1-  out of the housing.

   Information 

   • Be careful with the spacer ring behind the bearing ring during removal and installation. 
   • The original bearing ring must be re-installed. 
6. Remove bearing ring -1-  with spacer ring -2-  .

7. Remove double sealing ring using Internal Puller Nr. 108 Pos. 5 -1-  and Counter Support Nr. 107 -2-  .

8. Clean the sealing surface of the sealing rings and check for damage.
