Installing Double Sealing Ring

Information
- Check that the double sealing ring is seated correctly on the tool.
- The groove in the special tool must fit completely in the larger sealing ring.
- The sealing ring is fitted dry. Do not touch the sealing lip!
- Slide double sealing ring -2- onto the pressure piece -1- .
- Fit double sealing ring.
- 2.1. Position assembly fixture -1- with pressure piece -2- and double sealing ring -3- (-arrow- ).
- 2.2. Secure the assembly fixture -1- to the housing flange using two aluminum screws -2- .
- 2.3. Screw in the pressure piece with double sealing ring clockwise as far as it will go -arrow- .
- Leave the assembly fixture attached for three minutes!
- 3.1. Remove assembly fixture.
- 3.2. The sealing ring must end flush with the "aluminum edge".
Information
- Be careful with the spacer ring behind the bearing ring during removal and installation.
- The original bearing ring must be re-installed.
- Insert spacer ring -2-
with bearing ring -1-
.
Information
- Replace circlips on the halfshaft flanges.
- Carefully slide in the long halfshaft flange, keeping it straight at all times.
- Install the long flanged shaft -1-
with a new circlip -2-
.
- 5.1. Slide protective sleeve -3- onto the long flanged shaft.
- 5.2. Carefully slide in the flanged shaft -1- with protective sleeve -2- (-arrow- ), making sure that the oil baffle plate is not pushed out on the other side.
- 5.3. Secure the flanged shaft -1- with an O-ring -2- .
- Re-assemble the transmission.
- 6.1. Insert the differential.
- Insert housing cover for differential with a new O-ring. Check that it is seated correctly.
Grease the O-ring with Kluber Syntheso Glep. (Part No. 000.043.204.68)
- Tighten new aluminum screws uniformly.
Information
- The aluminum screws for the differential housing cover must be replaced.
- The aluminum screws for the Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) must be tightened using the yield -point- controlled tightening method.
- Special tool Electronic Torque Wrench 9768 is used for this.
- To ensure that the screws are tightened uniformly, the corresponding tightening setting "light, medium or hard" must always be used.
- Tighten aluminum screws according to the specified tightening sequence (yield-strength procedure) using special tool Electronic Torque Wrench 9768
.
→ Tightening torque: 6 Nm (4.5 ft. lb.)
- Fit the short halfshaft flange with a new circlip.
