Installing Hinge For Hood Compartment Lid

Use a spatula -1- to remove the seal -2- on the body and hinge -3- and clean with cleaning agent.

Information

The seal must not be affixed over the contact surface of the hinge -A- and body.
Position new seal -1- on the hinge -2- and affix.

Detach backing protective film from the seal -4- and position hinge -3- on the body -arrow- .

Slightly tighten fastening nuts -1- and fastening screw -2- .
Insert 5-mm centering pin (shop-made tool) -1- for centering the hinge into the bore provided with the hinge -2- in the closed position.

Position hood compartment lid -1- at the hinges -3- on the right and left with the help of a second person and secure with the fastening nuts -2- .

Move the hinge and hood compartment lid to check the contours with respect to the side panels and rear lid, adjust them if necessary. → WM 5X00IN DIAGRAM - BODY GAP DIMENSIONS (ALL MODELS)
Tighten fastening nuts -1- and fastening screw -2- at the hinge. → Tightening torque: 9.7 Nm (7 ft. lb.) → Tightening torque: 9.7 Nm (7 ft. lb.)
Screw down fastening nuts -2- on hood compartment lid -1- . → Tightening torque: 9.7 Nm (7 ft. lb.)
Press rubber sleeve -1- into the water drip pan -2- (-arrow- ).

Remove centering pin -1- and move hood compartment lid into service position by hand.
