Assembling Hood Compartment Lid

Thoroughly clean the hood compartment lid in the marked area.

Cut two strips of adhesive tape, each approx. 250 mm long.
Information
- The bonding surfaces must be clean and free of grease.
- Make sure that the adhesive tape is flush at the outer edge and does not project over the edge.
Stick adhesive tape on the left and right.

1. 3.1. Pull off backing paper and stick adhesive tape -1- at dimension -X= 510 mm- on the flange of the hood compartment lid -2- and press on it lightly.
Information

Using jerky movements, slide on the seal in the bonding surface area (adhesive tape) so that contact between the seal and adhesive tape is only made once the required seal position is attained.

If the seal is not flush at the edge when completely fitted, the seal and adhesive tape must be removed and cannot be reused.
Install seal and sealing strip.

1. 4.1. Remove protective film from the adhesive strip before fitting the seal -2- .
2. 4.2. Position seal -2- at the center of the hood compartment lid -3- (notch in flange of lid) using the positioning guide (hole in center of seal) -arrow A- .
3. 4.3. Starting from the center, push the seal -2- onto the flange.
4. 4.4. Position sealing strip -1- on the seal -2- (hole in center of seal) using the positioning guide (prick punch mark on the inside) -arrow B- .
5. 4.5. Starting from the center, tap the sealing strip -1- using a rubber hammer.
Install bracket at the left and right.

1. 5.1. Position bracket -2- on hood compartment lid -3- (-arrow - ).
2. 5.2. Secure bracket -2- using the expanding clips -1- by pressing in the retaining pins.
Install upper part of lid lock.

1. 6.1. Position upper part of lid lock -2- on hood compartment lid -3- .
2. 6.2. Tighten fastening screws -1- . → Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ft. lb.)
Install rubber buffer at the left and right.

1. 7.1. Screw rubber buffer -1- into hood compartment lid -2- (-arrow- ).
Install edge protection at the left and right.

1. 8.1. Fit edge protection -2- onto hood compartment lid -3- (-arrow A- ).
  Information
  
  When installing the second retaining clip (on right/left), make sure that it is fitted at a distance of -X = 450 mm from the end of the edge protection.
2. 8.2. Press in retaining clips -1- at the marked locations -arrow B- .
Information

Bonding surfaces must be clean and free of grease.
Install foam pad.

1. 9.1. Pull off protective paper -arrow A- .
2. 9.2. Position foam pad -1- on hood compartment lid -2- and press it on -arrows B- .
