Removing Pneumatic Spring

→ Gas-filled shock absorbers must be in idle state before removal.

→ Open the lid.

→ Secure the lid to prevent it from closing accidentally following removal of the gas-filled shock absorbers.

→ Do not use force to open the gas-filled shock absorbers because of their high internal pressure.

• Some of the repair illustrations show only one side of the vehicle. 
• Naturally, some steps also have to be performed on the opposite side of the vehicle as well. 

Information 

The untensioned position or maximum possible extension length of the pneumatic spring is reached when the hinge lever is facing upwards.

1. Loosen pneumatic spring on the hinge.

   1. 1.1. Insert a screwdriver between the head of the pneumatic spring -1-  and the safety clip.
   2. 1.2. Lift up the safety clip by levering the screwdriver towards the rear -arrow A-  . The safety clip remains at the head of the pneumatic spring -1-  .
   3. 1.3. Pull the pneumatic spring off the ball joint -arrow B-  .
   4. 1.4. Remove the screwdriver.
2. Loosen pneumatic spring on the convertible-top compartment lid.

   1. 2.1. Get a second person to hold the convertible-top compartment lid to prevent it from closing accidentally.
   2. 2.2. Insert a screwdriver between the head of the pneumatic spring and the safety clip -1-  .
   3. 2.3. Lift up the safety clip by levering the screwdriver towards the rear -arrow A-  . The safety clip remains at the head of the pneumatic spring.
   4. 2.4. Pull the pneumatic spring off the ball joint -arrow B-  .
   5. 2.5. Remove the screwdriver.
