Information

Procedure for damage diagnosis

  1. Identify impact points on the exterior panelling or wheels.
  2. Remove accessories that restrict the view of the impact area.
  3. Check unit mounts, chassis parts and steering parts for deformation and cracks.
  4. Determine the scope of damage to the body.

See: IDENTIFIABLE DEFORMATIONS ON THE BODY STRUCTURE

See: NO IDENTIFIABLE DEFORMATIONS ON THE BODY STRUCTURE

  5. Repair vehicle, if necessary.

Identifiable deformations on the body structure

    1. Visual inspection of the structural parts for creasing and bending, starting from the point of impact toward the center of the vehicle
    2. Visual inspection of the structural parts at the joints for gaping panel joints (e.g. entry area at the side member under the rubber seal of the door)
    3. Check the body structure using an electronic measuring system or a straightening bench system.
    4. Decide whether the vehicle is technically repairable
    5. Decide whether the vehicle is economically repairable
    6. Repair vehicle, if necessary.

No identifiable deformations on the body structure

    1. Check seam joining line on the accessories. 5000IN DIAGRAM - BODY GAP DIMENSIONS
    2. Check accessories for paint abrasion (accessories that were impacted during the crash)
    3. Drive the vehicle onto a lifting platform and raise it. Measure screw points using an electronic measuring system (e.g. Measuring Unit, Professional WE 1397)  and compare with the required values.
    4. Determine the extent of any damage to chassis components Measure the chassis electronically if necessary. See WM 449503 SUSPENSION ALIGNMENT, COMPLETE (EXCEPT CARRERA 4 GTS, CARRERA 4 GTS CABRIO, GT3, GT2, GT3 RS, GT2 RS, GT3 RS 4.0) or WM 449503 SUSPENSION ALIGNMENT, COMPLETE (GT3, GT2, GT3 RS, GT2 RS, GT3 RS 4.0) .
    5. Decide whether the vehicle has to be repaired
    6. Repair vehicle, if necessary.
