Replacing Ground Pin

Remove accessories in the repair area
1. 1.1. Place driver's seat in service position. → WM 270619 REMOVING AND INSTALLING BATTERY
2. 1.2. Lift floor carpet in area of ground pin.
Expose welding areas
1. 2.1. Remove undersealing, paint, etc. from the welding areas of the body on upper and lower sides with a hot-air gun or rotary brush.
2. 2.2. If necessary, cut off damaged pin and grind flat.
Drill mounting hole
1. 3.1. At the mounting position drill a hole with Ø 8 mm.
2. 3.2. Deburr the drill hole.

Prepare ground pin for installation
1. 4.1. Grind flat the bottom part of the ground pin.

Position ground pin
1. 5.1. Grip ground pin with pliers and get an assistant to position and fix it centrally over the drill hole

Weld in ground pin
1. 6.1. From below, MIG weld the ground pin to the drill hole.

Grind the welded joints smooth
Clean welded joints and sheetmetal flanges with a wire brush
Prime welding area with 2K primer
Seal welding area with body sealant
Restore standard seal with body sealant

Restore standard undersealing protection
1. 12.1. Undersealing
Install removed accessories in the repair area
Connect battery ground strap
1. 14.1. Remove main switch for power supply (battery disconnect switch)
