Information
The cover (grille) on the actuating mechanism of the foot-operated parking brake (FPB) does not need to be removed. The auxiliary pin can be inserted through the cover (grille).
Wear protective gloves.
- Watch out for sharp edges in the area of the actuating mechanism for the foot-operated parking brake (FPB).
Loosen and secure operating cable.
- Remove cover over actuating mechanism for foot-operated parking brake (FPB).
- Move pedal of foot-operated parking brake (FPB) into zero position. To do this, pull the release lever on the dashboard.
- Fix the adjustment device using an -Hilfststift max. 3, 5 mm Durchmesser- . In other words: press the adjustment device together -arrow- until the assembly bores are covered and the auxiliary pin can be inserted → 467955 REPLACING REAR BRAKE CABLE FOR FOOT-OPERATED PARKING BRAKE .
- Remove some of the brake cable. Do not loosen the circlip! To do this, insert a -Schraubendreher- between the sleeve of the brake cable and the wheel bearing housing.
- Pull the -Ummantelung des Seils- as far as possible out of the wheel bearing housing.
- Then push the cable gently into the expanding-lock. Use a small screwdriver to press the retaining spring and hexagon down at the expander lever and at the same time pull the brake cable out of the expanding-lock.
- Loosen the adjustment device -C- with a screwdriver.
- Remove pressure pieces with tensioning springs -F-

- Risk of squashing or bruising
→ Do not reach into the danger area.
→ Relieve the tension on components before starting work.
→ Secure components to prevent them from loosening suddenly.

- Disengage both tension springs -D and E- .
- Remove brake shoes with adjustment device and expanding-lock -A, B and C- .
