Installing Front Disc Brake Pads
- Reduced braking effect
- Risk of damage to the brake calliper
→ Fit new expanding spring, new retaining pin and securing clip on the brake calliper.
- Longer braking distance
- More wear on brake pads
→ Only use the type-specific brake pads listed in the Porsche Parts Catalogue.
→ Replace the brake pads when the brake pad wear indicator light comes on, but no later than when there is a residual pad thickness of 2 mm on each axle.
→ Replace the brake discs on each axle as soon as the brake pad wear limit is reached.
Do not grease the back of the disc brake pad!
The new disc brakes must be clean and free of grease!
Check disc brakes for wear; for details of wear limits, see → 46 TECHNICAL DATA/BRAKE WEAR LIMITS!
The core of the warning contact line must not be left exposed! It does not matter if the insulation is worn!
Use a new repair kit!
Observe tightening torques → WM 4600TW TIGHTENING TORQUES FOR BRAKE MECHANICS .
- If necessary, push brake piston back into its original position using the piston resetting fixture. .
- Fit new disc brake pads.
Information
- Make sure that the retaining pin is inserted in the correct position! The flat side surfaces prevent the retaining pin from twisting in the brake caliper.
- Install expanding spring. Centre the retaining pin in the bore with the M8 auxiliary screw. To do so, press retaining pin back with the auxiliary screw and push retaining pin through. Remove auxiliary screw and fit fastening screw at the retaining pin with the specified tightening torque → WM 4600TW TIGHTENING TORQUES FOR BRAKE MECHANICS
- Install warning contact line at disc brake pads and expanding spring -arrows- . The cable guide in the expanding spring must be at the bottom!
- Position disc brake pads by operating the brake several times.
- Check the brake fluid level and correct it if necessary. The brake fluid level must be between the -MIN and MAX markings- .
