Installing Front Seat

WARNING: Incorrect information for the AWS control unit
  • Passenger's airbag is triggered incorrectly

→ Calibrate the AWS control unit if the passenger's seat was removed and re-installed, or if the seat bracket or AWS control unit was replaced.

→ Do not loosen the safety screws on the AWS sensors or seat frame.

→ Only replace retainer plate for seat adjustment motor on vehicles without AWS sensors.

→ Always replace the retainer plate together with the seat frame on vehicles with an AWS sensor.

  1. Place front seat in car and tilt backwards.
  2. Insert central plug -1-  and belt buckle plug -2-  until the locking tabs -arrow-  can be heard to engage.

  3. Insert airbag plug -arrow A-  until the locking mechanism -B-  engages securely.

  4. Insert connector into the seat control unit -arrow A-  until the locking lugs -B-  engage securely.

  5. Clip wire harness into place.
    1. 5.1. Fit wiring duct onto the seat frame -arrow A-  .

    2. 5.2. Clip line onto the seat frame from above -arrow B-  .
  6. Fold seat forward -arrow A-  and align on seat frame with centring pin -arrow B-  .

  7. Connect the battery → WM 9000IN WORK INSTRUCTIONS AFTER DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY (ALL MODELS) .
    WARNING: Incorrect handling of safety bolts
    • Danger of injury
    • Loss of torque

    → Always use new fastening screws and nuts following removal.

    → Observe specified tightening torques.

    → Carry out a visual inspection of all re-used parts.

  8. Move front seat all the way back. Screw in front fastening screws -4-  only until the seat rails touch the seat frame.

  9. Move front seat all the way forwards and screw seat to seat frame at rear -3-  . → Tightening torque: 45 Nm (33 ft lbs.)  .

  10. Install rear caps
    1. 10.1. Fit the caps at the rear onto the seat rail -arrows A-  . Ensure that the inside of the cover -a-  only rests against the lugs -b-  of the metal clip and is not guided by it.
    2. 10.2. Press the covers down -arrows B-  until they engage securely.

  11. Move front seat all the way back and screw seat to seat frame at the front -4- Tightening torque: 45 Nm (33 ft lbs.)  .

  12. Push front caps onto the seat rails -arrows C-  and press down the covers -arrows D-  until these can be felt to engage.
  13. Push seat belt through the belt guide at the seat -arrow A-  .

  14. Position belt end fitting on the retaining pin -arrow B-  and pull upward -arrow C-  until the retaining clip locks with an audible click.
  15. Engage seat belt cap on the seat trim -arrow A-  and push it in -arrow B-  until it engages securely.

  16. Carry out work instructions after disconnecting the battery → WM 9000IN WORK INSTRUCTIONS AFTER DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY (ALL MODELS) .
