Installing Cushion Carrier For Front Backrest

Information 

Two persons are needed to remove and install the backrest shell.

1. Install backrest shell.

   1. 1.1. Position backrest shell -1-  on the seat shell -6-  until the backrest locking mechanism engages -arrow A-  .
   2. 1.2. Press bearing pin -3-  with plain bearing -4-  (dome facing outwards) and spring washer -5-  into the guide -arrow B-  .
   3. 1.3. Turn the bearing pin -3-  until it locks into place on the seat shell -6-  .
   4. 1.4. Tighten fastening nut -2-  (-arrow C-  ). → Tightening torque: 22 Nm (16 ftlb.)+/-3 Nm (+/-2 ftlb.) 
2. Secure airbag wire harness.

   1. 2.1. Push airbag wire harness -2-  through the seat shell -3-  (-arrow-  ).
   2. 2.2. Route airbag wire harness -2-  and secure with a new tie-wrap -1-  .
3. Install trim on inner hinge.

   1. 3.1. Position inner hinge trim -2-  (-arrow-  ) and secure with the fastening screw -1-  . → Tightening torque: 3 Nm (2 ftlb.)+/-0.5 Nm (+/-0.5 ftlb.) 
4. Secure cover.

   1. 4.1. Align cover -1-  with the side bolsters.

      Information 

      Make sure the Velcro fasteners join cleanly.

   2. 4.2. Press on Velcro fasteners -2-  and -3-  (-arrows-  ).
5. Secure airbag wire harness on the seat shell with two new tie-wraps -1-  .

6. Connect airbag connector socket.

   1. 6.1. Push the two single connectors -3-  into the connector socket -1-  (-arrow-  ) until the single connectors engage securely.
   2. 6.2. Fit a new tie-wrap -2-  on the connector socket -1-  .
7. Insert the airbag connector socket into the seat shell -arrow A-  and turn it 90° to the right -arrow B-  .
