Removing Rear Spoiler: Notes

Information 

• The sealing cord is damaged when removing the rear spoiler! 
• Use a new sealing cord during installation. 

1. Unscrew the fastening screws -1-  from below through the openings on the rear lid -2-  (-arrow-  ).

   Information 

   • The adhesive tape protects the rear lid from damage when removing the rear spoiler. 
2. Mask the rear lid -2-  with adhesive tape -1-  .

3. Heat the rear spoiler -1-  in the marked area -A-  (adhesive tape) with the hot-air blower v.a.g 1416  (-arrows-  ).

4. Insert a plastic wedge between the rear spoiler -1-  and rear lid -2-  and loosen the bonded joint.

5. Remove the rear spoiler -1-  by guiding it towards the rear -arrows-  .
6. Remove adhesive residue -A-  on the rear lid -2-  using the film eraser Nr.174 Pos.1  and holder Nr.174 Pos.2  .

7. Pull off adhesive tape -1-  (-arrow-  ) and clean bonding surfaces with isopropanol.
8. Scrape off adhesive residue -A-  on the rear spoiler -1-  using a metal scraper.

9. Clean bonding surfaces with isopropanol.
10. Pull the sealing cord -2-  (remains of sealing cord) off the rear spoiler -1-  and clean bonding surfaces with isopropanol.

11. Slide the threaded plate -1-  to one side -arrow A-  and remove it from the rear spoiler -2-  (-arrow B-  ).

12. Unscrew fastening screws -1-  .
13. Disconnect upper part of rear spoiler -3-  from lower part of rear spoiler -2-  (-arrows-  ).
