Fault code 0668: Diagnosis/troubleshooting

NOTE:
  • Before replacing the control module, the ground connections, power supply and plug connections on the control module must be checked.
  • When replacing the vehicle electrical system control module, observe the coding of the control module.
  • After the test drive, read out the fault memory with the Porsche System Tester II No. 9588 again. Additional causes of faults that could damage the vehicle electrical system control module should be detected and remedied.
DIAGNOSIS/TROUBLESHOOTING CHART

Work instruction Display OK If not OK
1 Check vehicle electric system control module fuse:
  • Check fuse 'F9' in the power distributor.
Fuse OK
Go to Step 2
Replace fuse.
→ End
If fuse is faulty again, then:
Go to Step 4
2 Check vehicle electric system control module power supply:
  • Switch off the ignition.
  • Disconnect plug 'P' on vehicle electrical system control module:
  • Measure voltage between vehicle electric system plug 'P' 'Pin 4' and body ground.
11.4 - 14.4 V
Go to Step 3
Go to Step 4
3 Check vehicle electric system control module ground supply:
  • Measure voltage between vehicle electric system plug 'P Pin 9' and battery B+.
11.4 - 14.4 V
Go to Step 6
Repair / replace wiring harness
→ End
4 Check power supply line for short circuit to ground:
  • Switch off the ignition.
  • Remove fuse 'F 9'.
  • Measure resistance between vehicle electric system plug 'P Pin 4' and ground.
∞ Ω
Go to Step 5
Repair / replace wiring harness
→ End
5 Check voltage supply line for open circuit:
  • Measure resistance between vehicle electric system plug 'P' 'Pin 4' and fuse output 'F 9'.
< 5 Ω
Go to Step 6
Repair / replace wiring harness
→ End
6 Replace vehicle electrical system control module
  • Observe note
→ End
