Procedure For Teaching Remote Controls (Hand-Held Transmitters)

Information 

• The immobiliser system consists of four components - Kessy control unit/engine immobiliser control unit, electric steering lock, DME control unit and vehicle hand-held transmitter (remote control). 
• If it is necessary to replace one of these components because of a defect, the new component can be adapted to the existing system. To do this, you will need PIWIS Tester II 9818 and the immobiliser code from the PIWIS information system. 
• You can get the codes from the PIWIS information system or from your importer by specifying the vehicle identification number. 
• Follow the instructions for the Porsche System Tester. 

Information 

• Only new hand-held transmitters or those already adapted to the immobiliser system on the vehicle can be taught. 
• Hand-held transmitters that are already adapted are overwritten, and so all hand-held transmitters that will later be used on the vehicle must be taught. 
• Teaching of keys is protected over a time period. Once this time has elapsed, teaching is aborted. 

1. Ignition off. Connect Porsche System Tester to the vehicle.
2. Select the vehicle type and PIDT.
3. Switch on warning indicator light; this will activate CAN and ensure that the KESSY control unit is identified.
4. Select the Kessy  control unit and press [F12] to continue.
5. Select the Teaching function  menu and press [F12] to continue.
6. Select Teach keys  and press [F12] to continue.
7. Enter immobiliser code  , press [F12] to continue and press [F7] to confirm.
8. Insert key 1.
9. Enter the number of keys (1-8) to be taught and press [F12]. Then confirm your entry by pressing [F7].

   Turn key No. 1 (already inserted in ignition lock) to position ON (ignition) - ignition is switched on if key was taught correctly.

   Information 

   • In the case of keys with the Keyless function, after teaching, press a button on the radio remote control to activate this function. 

   Turn key No. 1 to OFF and remove from ignition lock.

   Insert key No. 2 in ignition lock and turn to position ON (ignition), then press [F12] - ignition is switched on if key was taught correctly.

   Repeat procedure with all keys to be taught (number of keys you entered previously).

10. Read out the fault memory and erase it if necessary.

    Information 

    Before the engine can be started, a waiting time of 5 minutes must be observed only once.

11. Start the engine using each of the keys/remote controls that were taught one after the other.
