Removing Transmission
WARNING:
Hot fluid
- Danger of scalding
→ Let the fluid cool down.
→ Wear personal protective gear.
- Remove heat shield on all-wheel final drive.
- Remove fastening screws -arrows- securing heat shield to transmission and remove heat shield.
- Remove converter screw -arrow- through the opening in the starter using 3/8" - 5/16" bit connector and Torx T55 bit screwdriver insert Nr.42-1 .
- Turn the crankshaft further for the next converter screw using a socket-wrench insert 9714 .
- Remove safety clip -A- on selector lever cable and use disassembly tool, universal Nr.21 to lever the cable off the ball joint -arrow- .
- Unscrew coolant pipe fastening screws on converter bell housing.
Information
- The line connections on the transmission and the ends of the ATF lines must be closed off after the lines have been separated from the transmission!
- Disconnect ATF lines from the transmission. To do this, unscrew screw -arrow- and remove lines.
- Unscrew fastening screw for ATF line holder on converter bell housing.
- Unscrew fastening screws securing transmission to engine. This involves unscrewing four screws on the engine side and six on the transmission side.
- Remove transmission. Pull off the vent line -arrows- for the transfer gear.
