Connecting And Disconnecting Battery
WARNING:

→ Ensure that there is good ventilation.
→ If you do come into contact, wash off immediately with plenty of warm water and contact a doctor if necessary.

→ Do not rub the battery with a dry cloth.

Switch off all loads and remove the ignition key.
- Do not disconnect the battery while the engine is running.
- Disconnect and reconnect battery with extreme caution.
- Do not rub the battery with a dry cloth.

The battery is located in the battery case under the left front seat.

Unscrewing ground strap from body:
- Move front left seat back and up as far as possible.
- Disengage front trim panel at the rear -Arrow A- , then unclip it by pulling it forward -Arrow B- .
- Unclip the right carpet cover -Arrow- .
- Fold carpeted floor forward -Arrow A- , unscrew fastening nut -1- from battery ground strap on the body and remove ground strap from the stud -Arrow B- .
- Route or isolate ground strap so that all contact with a ground carrier (e.g. body, seat frame) is avoided.
Screwing ground strap onto body:
- Fold carpeted floor forward -Arrow A- , place battery ground strap on the body -Arrow B- and tighten with the fastening nut -1- . → Tightening torque: 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)
- Clip in the right carpet cover -Arrow- until it engages securely.
- Clip in the front seat trim at the front seat frame and at the side trim panel -Arrow A- .
- Press the front seat trim down -Arrow B- until the locking hooks engage securely on the seat frame.
