Checking Oil Pressure

→ Ventilate the work area well.

→ Wear personal protective gear.

→ Let the fluid cool down.

WARNING: Highly inflammable or explosive materials
  • Danger of fire or explosion

→ Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.

→ Use suction to remove ignitable vapours.

→ Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.

Collect emerging engine oil and dispose of it in accordance with the applicable national laws. 

  1. Remove oil pressure switch/sensor. → 170419 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ON V6 DFI ENGINES

  2. Use adapter insert and tighten by hand with a suitable sealing ring instead of the oil pressure sensor/switch.
  3. Connect pressure gauge to hose.

    Information 

    • The oil temperature must be between 80 and 100 °C when measuring oil pressure. 
    • Check the oil temperature using a special thermometer or PST II tester. 
  4. Start the engine and move off at the required test speed. Read off the oil pressure on the pressure gauge while doing so.

    • When the oil pressure tester "OP 85" is unscrewed, approx. 0.3 litres of engine oil will escape. 

    Collect emerging engine oil and dispose of it in accordance with the applicable national laws. 

  5. Remove pressure gauge with test hose. Collect emerging engine oil and dispose of it in accordance with the applicable national laws.
  6. Install oil pressure switch with new sealing ring. → WM 170419 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ON V6 DFI ENGINES
