Fault code 2087: Diagnosis/troubleshooting

NOTE:
  • Before replacing the control module, the ground connections, power supply and plug connections on the control module must be checked.
  • When replacing the vehicle electrical system control module, observe the coding of the control module.
  • After the test drive, read out the fault memory with the 9588 Porsche System Tester II again. Additional causes of faults that could damage the vehicle electrical system control module should be detected and remedied.

→ End
If fuse is once again faulty:
Go to Step 3
2 Check open circuit in main headlight:
  • Switch off the ignition.
  • Disconnect main headlight plug.
  • Measure resistance on main headlight bushing between 'pin 9 and pin 10'.
Approx. 5 Ω
Go to Step 3
Repair /replace main headlight.
→ End
3 Check line for short circuit to B+:
  • Switch off the ignition.
  • Disconnect plug 'D' on vehicle electrical system control module.
  • Disconnect main headlight plug.
  • Switch on ignition.
  • Measure voltage between plug on vehicle electrical system control module 'D' 'Pin 2' and ground.
< 0.3 V
Go to Step 4
Repair /replace wire.
→ End
4 Check line for short circuit to ground:
  • Switch off the ignition.
  • Measure resistance between plug on vehicle electrical system control module 'D' 'Pin 2' and ground.
∞ Ω
Go to Step 5
Repair /replace wire.
→ End
5 Check line for open circuit:
  • Measure resistance between plug on vehicle electrical system control module 'D' 'pin 2' and right main headlight plug 'pin 9'.
< 0.5 V
Go to Step 6
Repair /replace wire.
→ End
6 Check ground line for short circuit to B+:
  • Switch off the ignition.
  • Disconnect front right main headlight plug.
  • Switch on ignition.
  • Measure voltage between front right main headlight plug 'Pin 10' and body ground.
Go to Step 7 Repair /replace wire.
→ End
7 Check open circuit in ground lead:
  • Switch off the ignition.
  • Measure resistance between front right main headlight plug 'Pin 10' and body ground.
Go to Step 8 Repair /replace wire.
→ End
8 Replace vehicle electrical system control module
  • Observe note
→ End
