Fault code 2086: Diagnosis/troubleshooting

NOTE:
  • Before replacing the control module, the ground connections, power supply and plug connections on the control module must be checked.
  • When replacing the vehicle electrical system control module, observe the coding of the control module.
  • After the test drive, read out the fault memory with the Porsche System Tester II No. 9588 again. Additional causes of faults that could damage the vehicle electrical system control module should be detected and remedied.
DIAGNOSIS/TROUBLESHOOTING CHART

Work instruction Display OK If not OK
1 Check left corner light fuse:
  • Check fuse 'F 21' in the fuse carrier on the left.
Fuse OK
Go to Step 2
Fuse not OK
→ End
If fuse is faulty again, then:
Go to Step 3
2 Check open circuit in headlight:
  • Switch off the ignition.
  • Disconnecting main headlight plug.
  • Measure resistance in headlight bushing between: 'Pin 9 and Pin 10'.
Approx. 5 Ω
Go to Step 3
Repair /replace headlight.
→ End
3 Check line for short circuit to B+:
  • Switch off the ignition.
  • Pull out plug 'D' on vehicle electrical system control module:
  • Disconnecting main headlight plug.
  • Switch on ignition.
  • Measure voltage between vehicle electric system plug 'D' 'Pin 1' and ground.
< 0.3 V
Go to Step 4
Repair / replace wiring harness
→ End
4 Check line for short circuit to ground:
  • Switch off the ignition.
  • Measure resistance between vehicle electric system plug 'D' 'Pin 1' and ground.
∞ Ω
Go to Step 5
Repair / replace wiring harness
→ End
5 Check line for open circuit:
  • Measure resistance between vehicle electric system plug 'D' 'Pin 1' and left headlight plug 'Pin 9'.
< 0.5 V
Go to Step 6
Repair / replace wiring harness
→ End
6 Check short circuit to ground line B+:
  • Switch off the ignition.
  • Remove plug from front left main headlight.
  • Switch on ignition.
  • Measure voltage between body ground and front left main headlight plug 'Pin 10'.
Go to Step 7 Repair /replace wiring harness
→ End
7 Check ground line for open circuit:
  • Switch off the ignition.
  • Measure resistance between body ground and front left main headlight plug 'Pin 10'.
Go to Step 8 Repair /replace wiring harness
→ End
8 Replace vehicle electrical system control module
  • Observe note
