Fault code 0967: Diagnosis/troubleshooting

NOTE:
  • Before replacing the control module, the ground connections, power supply and plug connections on the control module must be checked.
  • When replacing the vehicle electrical system control module, observe the coding of the control module.
  • After the test drive, read out the fault memory with the Porsche System Tester II No. 9588 again. Additional causes of faults that could damage the vehicle electrical system control module should be detected and remedied.
DIAGNOSIS/TROUBLESHOOTING CHART

Work instruction Display OK If not OK
1 Check left bulbs: Bulbs OK.
Go to Step 2
Bulbs not OK.
Replace bulb(s).
→ End
2 Check open circuit in rear left bulb carrier:
  • Switch off the ignition.
  • Remove plug from rear left bulb carrier.
  • Measure resistance at the bulb carrier between 'Pin 1' and 'Pin 2'.
approx. 7 Ω
Go to Step 3
Replace bulb carrier.
→ End
3 Check open circuit in front left bulb carrier:
  • Remove plug from front left bulb carrier.
  • Measure resistance at the bulb carrier between 'Pin 2' and 'Pin 10'.
approx. 30 Ω
Go to Step 4
Replace bulb carrier.
→ End
4 Check lines for short circuit to B+:
  • Switch off the ignition.
  • Pull out plug 'E' on vehicle electrical system control module:
  • Switch on ignition.
  • Measure voltage between vehicle electric system plug 'E' 'Pin 1' and ground.
< 0.3 V
Go to Step 5
Repair / replace wiring harness
→ End
5 Check lines for short circuit to ground:
  • Switch off the ignition.
  • Measure resistance between vehicle electric system plug 'E' 'Pin 1' and ground.
∞ Ω
Go to Step 6
Repair / replace wiring harness
→ End
6 Check lines for open circuit:
  • Measure resistance between vehicle electric system plug 'E' 'Pin 1' and:
  • Rear left lamp carrier plug 'Pin 1'
  • (Halogen headlights) front left lamp carrier plug 'Pin 9'
  • (Xenon headlights) measure front left lamp carrier plug 'Pin 2'
< 5 Ω
Go to Step 7
Repair / replace wiring harness
→ End
7 Check short circuit to ground line B+:
  • Switch off the ignition.
  • Remove plug from front left main headlight.
  • Remove plug from left tail light.
  • Switch on ignition.
  • Measure voltage between body ground and front left main headlight plug 'Pin 10'.
  • Measure voltage between body ground and rear left tail light plug 'Pin 2'.
Go to Step 8 Repair / replace wiring harness
→ End
8 Check ground line for open circuit:
  • Switch off the ignition.
  • Measure resistance between body ground and front left main headlight plug 'Pin 10'.
  • Measure resistance between body ground and rear left tail light plug 'Pin 2'.
Go to Step 9 Repair / replace wiring harness
→ End
9 Replace vehicle electrical system control module
  • Observe note
→ End
